Sharing an emotional message, Harmanpreet said that stepping away from leadership was not an easy decision. She explained that her decision was made with the team’s future in mind.
She said she now wants to focus solely on her role as a player and believes the Indian team is heading in a positive direction.
Harmanpreet also reflected on her time as captain, describing it as a proud and memorable chapter of her career. She said she gave everything she could to the team and carried the responsibility of leading India with pride.
“A New Chapter Begins”
Harmanpreet said it was now time to start a new chapter. While her stint as captain has come to an end, she made it clear that her commitment to Indian cricket remains unchanged.
She expressed confidence in the current squad, highlighting its talent, character, belief and potential for the future.
Harmanpreet also thanked her teammates, coaches, support staff, team management, the BCCI, her family and the fans for standing by her throughout her leadership journey.
She will now continue her international career as a player for the Indian women’s cricket team.
