Why did Sofia Hayat react to Salman Khan’s moment?
During the September 20, 2026 episode of Bigg Boss 20 Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan addressed the criticism he has been receiving online over his appearance, including comments about his age, hairstyle, weight and overall look.
In response to the trolls, Salman removed his cap and shirt on stage, turning the moment into a statement against people who repeatedly comment on celebrities’ bodies and appearances. The housemates reacted with cheers, while several viewers also discussed the incident on social media.
However, the moment did not receive a positive response from everyone.
Sofia Hayat shared a clip of Salman’s appearance on X and questioned his past behaviour towards her during her own Bigg Boss stint.
Sofia alleges Salman treated her differently
Sofia, who appeared on Bigg Boss 7 in 2013, accused Salman of being hypocritical. In her social media post, she claimed that the actor had previously made critical remarks about her body and face while complimenting Gauahar Khan’s appearance.
She wrote, “SALMAN is an hypocritical idiot,” before recalling an incident from her season.
According to Sofia, Salman had compared her appearance with Gauahar Khan’s and complimented Gauahar’s body during the show. Sofia’s latest comments suggest that she sees a contradiction between those alleged remarks and Salman’s recent message against body-shaming.
Her comments have since added another layer to the online discussion surrounding Salman’s Bigg Boss 20 appearance.
Salman Khan speaks about body-shaming
The controversy comes at a time when Salman was also discussing the wider issue of appearance-based trolling.
During the episode, he spoke about the pressure women face over their bodies, including the scrutiny they can receive after pregnancy. He also questioned the intrusive nature of paparazzi coverage and encouraged women to stand up against unwanted judgment.
The conversation came amid social-media discussions about Katrina Kaif’s appearance following childbirth, although Salman did not directly name her while making his remarks.
From Bigg Boss 7 to Bigg Boss 20
Sofia Hayat was part of Bigg Boss 7, a season that featured contestants including Gauahar Khan, Tanishaa Mukerji, Kushal Tandon, Armaan Kohli, Sangram Singh, VJ Andy, Kamya Punjabi, Elli Avram and Pratyusha Banerjee.
Gauahar Khan eventually won the season, while Tanishaa Mukerji finished as the first runner-up.
Meanwhile, Bigg Boss 20 has introduced a new group of contestants, with names such as MC Mary Kom, Mahhi Vij, Kanika Mann, Aamrapali Dubey, Isha Rikhi, Arishfa Khan and Love Gill among those associated with the current season.
Sofia’s latest post has therefore brought an old Bigg Boss controversy back into the spotlight, this time in connection with Salman Khan’s recent comments about body-shaming and online trolling.
